CHAOS THAT NEEDS TO BE COORDINATED

Welcome to my life, where chaos isn’t just a state of being—it’s a lifestyle, a brand, and sometimes even a full-contact sport. If there were an Olympic event for juggling life’s absurdities, I’d be on the podium wearing mismatched socks, clutching a gold medal in one hand and a half-eaten granola bar in the other.

Let’s start with my mornings. Imagine a scene straight out of a sitcom: coffee cup in one hand, phone in the other, and a mental to-do list so long it might as well be an ancient scroll. By 9 a.m., I’ve already misplaced my glasses twice, responded to emails while standing at the fridge wondering why I’m there, and convinced myself that today will be “the day” I finally master time management. Spoiler alert: It won’t.

Then there’s my professional life, my 8-4 real job which I like to call “coordinated chaos in heels.” As Vice President of Development and Communications, I thrive in the beautiful mess of deadlines, fundraisers, and strategizing—all while making it look like I have my act together (thank you, blazer and lipstick and my amazing staff of women who work for me and with me ! These women are my heroes, friends and teammates! I couldn’t be happier with them The reality? Half the time, I’m just praying the Wi-Fi holds up (for the last four weeks it goes out on Tuesdays just before our meeting ) and that my calendar reminders don’t betray me.

But here’s the thing about chaos: it’s not the enemy. Chaos is creativity with a caffeine addiction. It’s the reason I can plan a Paris-themed party that looks like it was styled by a professional, yet still forget to take my laundry out of the dryer for three days when I do have to do wash. Thank goodness for TK who picks up all the laundry or I would forget that as well. It’s the driving force behind all the funny, weird, and wonderful moments that make life uniquely mine.

When life feels like it’s spiraling, I remind myself of one truth: chaos needs me just as much as I need to coordinate it. After all, who else is going to manage a podcast about love and relationships, shop for my favorite finds, brainstorm fundraising campaigns, write blogs about menopause, and still find time to watch Friends reruns? (Shoutout to Ross yelling, “PIVOT!”)

So, to anyone out there trying to navigate their own beautifully chaotic lives, I say this: embrace it. Embrace the mismatched socks, the overstuffed calendar, and the never-ending to-do list. Because chaos, when coordinated just right, creates magic. It’s messy, it’s unpredictable, and it’s full of laughter—and that’s what makes it so fun.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a podcast script to write, a party to plan, and a granola bar to finish.
