A Celebration of Elegance and Romance: My 50th Birthday Inspired by Italy
What an unforgettable evening! I recently celebrated my 50th birthday with a celebration inspired by the elegance and romance of Italy. This special night was everything I imagined and more a perfect blend of Italy’s timeless beauty, art, fashion, and, of course, food. I’m so excited to share the details of this magical event with you that I styled. I told TK if we did this I had to decorate so he said okay. He’s an amazing husband who loves me so much his efforts and hard work didn’t go unnoticed.
The Colors & Design
The color palette for the event was a stunning combination of greens, pinks, soft and bright tones, black, brown, gold, and creams an ode to the vibrancy of Italy while maintaining a sophisticated yet playful vibe.
The decor was carefully crafted to reflect Italy’s cultural richness. Venetian masks adorned the space, adding an air of mystery and celebration. Statues of Greek and Roman women, as well as a playful bust of Michelangelo’s David (complete with a gelato cone or orange bubbles!), brought a lighthearted energy to the evening. These iconic sculptures are more than just decor; they are a tribute to the art and history of Italy, especially the classical Greek and Roman influences seen in cities like Rome and Florence.
Golden Roman goddess statues and accents of hot pink and green added regal elegance, while maintaining a fun and whimsical atmosphere. These artistic touches set the tone for the evening luxurious, fun, and steeped in Italy’s artistic heritage.
Fashion Details
Fashion is always a key element in my events, and this one was no different! Authentic Gucci ribbon was tied to the menu cards and napkin rings, offering a nod to Italy’s luxury fashion world. Gold bees and butterflies, symbolic of transformation and beauty, were sprinkled throughout, referencing Gucci’s playful designs. And let’s not forget my Gucci heart shape cake to remind me of the beautiful Gucci heart shape earrings TK got me for my birthday four years ago !
A personal favorite detail was the use of mermaids on cookies and drink coasters, designed in vibrant pink and green. Why mermaids? They’re a symbol of the coastal beauty of Italy, particularly Capri. The mermaids embody the magic and allure of the Mediterranean, bringing a touch of whimsy and adventure to the celebration.
The Table Setting
The table was a feast for the eyes as much as for the stomach. Statuesque , Flowers, soft candlelight, and beautiful pink lamps created a romantic glow that lit up the faces of all the guests. The ambiance was enhanced by giant ficus trees, reminiscent of those found in Italian parks, adding a touch of Italy’s natural beauty to the event.
The combination of whimsical decor, golden accents, and soft lighting made for an unforgettable setting an atmosphere filled with love, laughter, and the warm glow of shared memories.
The Menu: A Taste of Italy
As much as I love Italy’s art and fashion, it’s the food that truly captures my heart. For this celebration, I curated a six-course menu that reflected the love I have for Italy’s culinary traditions. Here’s a look at the delicious dishes we enjoyed:
Ricotta Crostini, Mini Arancini with Marinara, Eggplant Rollatini—the perfect Italian appetizers to kick off the evening with vibrant, classic flavors.
Goat Cheese & Arugula Salad, Classic Caesar Salad—refreshing and crisp greens that balanced the richness of the upcoming courses.
Refreshing Sorbet—a palate cleanser that prepared us for the main event.
Rigatoni Pomodoro & Fettuccine Bolognese—comforting pasta dishes that brought a taste of home to the table.
Garlic & Lemon Crusted Chicken, Shrimp Scampi, Signature Meatballs, Grilled Seasonal Vegetables—hearty, flavorful mains that embodied the best of Italian cuisine.
To finish, Petite Pastries, Sicilian Cannoli, and Decadent Fried Oreos—sweet treats that perfectly closed out the meal.
Coffee & Tea Selection—the perfect way to end a meal filled with rich flavors and unforgettable moments.
Each course represented my deep connection to Italy the country’s love of food, its culinary traditions, and the incredible memories I’ve made while there with TK. Every bite was a reflection of the love I’ve found in Italy, shared with those closest to me.

Looking back, this 50th birthday celebration was more than just a milestone. It was a reflection of my journey of the memories, love, and experiences that have shaped me. The evening was filled with laughter, delicious food, and the company of friends and family who hold a special place in my heart.
