Just Don’t Do It, Gal! The One Fashion Mistake You Need to Stop Making
Ladies, we need to talk. And I say this with love. With kindness. With the deepest desire for you to be your most fabulous, put-together, effortlessly elegant self.
You’ve spent time (and money) curating the perfect outfit—maybe it’s that sleek black-tie gown, the tailored cocktail dress, or even a chic dinner look that screams sophistication. You’ve nailed the heels, the clutch, the jewelry, the vibe. And then… BAM. I see it across the room, like a flashing neon sign at a five-star restaurant.
The Apple Watch. Or worse… the FitBit.
I physically wince when I see it peeking out from under a delicate sleeve or clashing with a stack of elegant bangles. It’s like pairing a couture dress with Crocs. Like ordering a filet mignon and dumping ketchup all over it. Like showing up to a wedding in jeans. IT JUST HURTS.
Now listen, I get it. You love your Apple Watch. You need to close your rings. You like checking your steps. You want to feel connected to your notifications at all times. But tell me this—do you really need to know your heart rate when you’re sipping a martini at a gala? Do you really need to track your steps on the dance floor at a wedding? Do you really need a text alert mid-toast when someone just complimented your earrings?
The answer is no. You do not.
Because here’s the thing: nothing says class like a single, beautiful, old-school, timeless watch. Ladies and we are not talking it has to be A delicate Cartier, a classic Rolex, a stunning vintage Omega—whatever fits your style, your budget, your aesthetic. Run to any store or shop online plenty to choose from. Truly just get a gold or silver watch. I personally would pick gold ! Can’t go wrong with gold with any outfit . Just make sure the watch elevates your look instead of dragging it down into “I just finished a Peloton ride” territory.
You wouldn’t wear your gym sneakers to a black-tie event (I hope). So why are you accessorizing like you’re about to go for a run?
So please, for me, for you, for fashion, just don’t do it, gal!
Keep the Apple Watch for the office, the gym, the grocery store. But when you’re dressing up, when you’re putting effort into your look—respect the outfit. Honor the outfit. Elevate the outfit. Respect yourself!
Wear a real watch. You’ll thank me later.
